Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver looking for a varied role where no two days are the same?

We're looking for a reliable, safety-focused professional to join our Stoke Transport team. This exciting dual-purpose role combines yard shunting responsibilities with relief driving duties, ensuring our transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently.

Whether you're positioning trailers in the yard or covering deliveries across our network, you'll play a vital role in keeping our customers' goods moving.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence
• Driver CPC Qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Good understanding of Driver Hours & Working Time Regulations
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience I Class 1 role
• Minimum of 6 months working within a night role
• Experience operating articulated vehicles
• Strong commitment to health & safety
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
• A team player with a positive can-do attitude
• Experience within a busy transport or logistics operation
• Moffett or other ancillary vehicle qualifications (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Safely move trailers and vehicles around the depot and yard
• Position trailers for loading, unloading, maintenance and dispatch
• Carry out vehicle and trailer safety checks
• Maintain accurate trailer movement records
• Work closely with transport planners, warehouse teams and drivers
• Keep the yard organised, safe and operationally efficient
• Report vehicle or equipment defects promptly
• Provide HGV driving cover for holidays, sickness and operational demands
• Complete collections and deliveries professionally and safely
• Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time and Road Transport legislation
• Deliver excellent customer service on every journey
• Promote a strong health & safety culture and support continuous improvement across the operation
