We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join Suir Engineering Ltd. The position will be based on an EP&R project in Sittingbourne, Kent. The Setting Out Engineer is responsible for providing accurate and precise setting out points and measurements on construction sites, ensuring that the structure or infrastructure being built aligns with the project plans and specifications. This role plays a crucial part in the successful completion of construction projects by providing technical support, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring that work is executed correctly.
What you will be doing:
- Use surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser levels to establish accurate points, lines, and levels onsite.
- Interpret and analyze construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate setting out of construction elements.
- Mark out reference points and guide construction teams to follow accurate dimensions.
- Monitor and inspect the quality of work, ensuring it meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Identify any discrepancies or deviations from plans and work closely with the project team to resolve them.
- Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of all setting out activities, measurements, and quality checks.
- Prepare progress reports and provide feedback to senior engineers and project managers.
- Ensure that all setting out equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
Is this job for me?
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Land Surveying, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in setting out engineering or a similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of surveying equipment is a must (e.g., Trimble, total stations, GPS, laser levels) and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites in Ireland.
