An opportunity has arisen at our dynamic, expanding firm of Accountants within our Stoke Central office for an Audit Senior with proven experience in audit to head up our audit team. This challenging, demanding, and exciting role involves managing the end-to-end audit process—from planning and fieldwork through to completion for a varied client portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the audit team to ensure comprehensive preparation that aligns with overall engagement objectives.
  • Execution of Audit Engagements: Leading the execution phase by verifying compliance, assessing risk, and examining internal processes across varied client sectors.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff—offering guidance to ensure strict adherence to auditing standards while being fully backed by a competent Audit Manager and Responsible Individuals (RIs).
  • Compiling detailed, high-quality audit reports that clearly convey findings and actionable recommendations to senior management.
  • Preparing accounts under UK GAAP for client entities.
  • Ensuring all audit activities strictly comply with regulatory standards and internal controls.
  • Serving as a key primary contact to nurture and build strong ongoing client relationships.

Requirements for the role:

  • Qualifications & Experience: Ideally ACA or ACCA qualified with at least 5 years of experience working in a professional audit environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in audit planning, fieldwork, and completion under UK GAAP.
  • Key Skills: Excellent communication, administration, and organizational abilities.
  • Attributes: Strong leadership potential, a proactive attitude, and the ability to operate as a flexible team player.
  • Logistics: Holds a valid driving license and has access to their own vehicle.
