We’re looking for a commercially minded Relationship Manager to join our Development Finance team at Hampshire Trust Bank. This is a key front‑to‑back role where you’ll take ownership of development finance transactions from initial review through to completion. You’ll work closely with Lending Directors, borrowers and professional counterparties to assess opportunities, structure deals and ensure high‑quality execution. You’ll be at the heart of our lending activity — supporting SME housebuilders and property professionals, while helping drive the bank’s growth and reputation in the residential development market.
Deal Assessment & Analysis
- Review and critically assess project and corporate information provided by prospective borrowers
- Conduct detailed financial and viability analysis of development opportunities
- Use internal appraisal models to evaluate deals with speed and accuracy
- Prepare clear and concise credit papers for Credit Committee approval
Deal Execution & Delivery
- Take ownership of deals from credit approval through to completion
- Draft facility letters in line with Credit Committee terms and conditions
- Ensure all loan conditions are satisfied and aligned with policy and expectations
- Deliver a high‑quality, efficient and customer‑focused deal execution process
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Support Lending Directors on site visits and client meetings, taking ownership of follow‑ups
- Build strong relationships with borrowers, brokers and professional counterparties
- Instruct and manage solicitors, valuers and monitoring surveyors, interpreting reports and resolving issues
- Deliver excellent customer service throughout the transaction lifecycle
- Manage KYC and regulatory requirements including source of funds/wealth and sanctions checks
- Ensure all deals comply with credit policy, regulatory requirements and internal controls
- Maintain high standards of accuracy across documentation and systems
Business Development Support
- Contribute to raising HTB’s profile within the residential development market
- Support marketing, deal analysis and relationship‑building activities
- Help drive repeat and new business opportunities through strong client engagement
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll collaborate closely with Lending Directors and Relationship Management team, Credit Risk and Credit Quality Assurance teams, Compliance and Risk teams, and external stakeholders including borrowers, brokers, solicitors, valuers and monitoring surveyors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within development finance, property lending or real estate finance
- Strong understanding of residential property development and market trends
- Experience assessing lending opportunities and analysing financial viability
- Background in financial services or a related sector
