Working closely with the Head of IT, you’ll be the go-to technical lead for resolving complex issues, managing incidents, maintaining system performance, and ensuring secure, stable operations across on-prem and cloud services. This role involves direct configuration, troubleshooting, patching, monitoring, and upgrading of systems—while also guiding and supporting the IT Systems Administrator through technical mentoring and daily workload leadership.

With responsibility for maintaining accreditations such as ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus, and for getting hands on with networking, firewalls, backups, M365, Azure, Intune, and VMware technologies, this role suits someone who loves being immersed in the technical detail while keeping the environment robust, secure, and running smoothly.

  • Managing, monitoring, and updating tickets on the Incident Management System.
  • Install and configure software and hardware.
  • Manage network servers and technology tools.
  • Set up accounts and workstations.
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, vulnerability detection, patching and mitigation, and firewalls.
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
  • Liaise with third party support companies where necessary to support where needed.
  • Collate and monitor daily/weekly/monthly team performance KPI’s.
  • Assist with recruitment and training.
  • Support in the strategic direction of the company’s Networks and Systems.
  • Manage, train, motivate and monitor direct reports including conducting regular 121’s and appraisals.
  • Ensure that systems, policies, procedures are implemented, documented, and maintained to agreed timescales and standards.
  • Able to get hands on with any role within the team to support in times of absence or high workload.
  • Obtain and maintain ISO27001, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditations.

Systems and Technologies you will be familiar with:

  • Cisco Firewalls, WAN, LAN, Routing, VPN, VLAN

  • Switch patching and maintenance
  • Security accreditations - Cyber Security Essentials Plus and ISO27001
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Nimble SAN
  • SSO provisioning and maintenance
  • Linux knowledge
