Catering Assistant at Frances Bolitho Care Home - 30 hour contract

We’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistant to join our dedicated catering team at Frances Bolitho Care Home in Penzance, a welcoming 45-bed residential care home where our residents are at the heart of everything we do.

As a Catering Assistant, you will be helping to serve more than just meals; you’ll support our Catering Supervisor and wider team in providing nutritious, delicious and well-presented meals for our residents, while helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming kitchen environment.

Food is an important part of life at Frances Bolitho. You’ll play a valuable role in helping our residents enjoy mealtimes, whether that’s preparing and serving meals, keeping the dining areas clean and welcoming, or taking the time to offer a friendly smile and a few kind words. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working as part of a team and understands the importance of providing a high standard of service. Previous catering experience is welcomed, but what matters most is your positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine desire to make a difference.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day smooth operation of the kitchen
  • Understand and cater to special dietary needs, ensuring presentation and nutritional standards are met
  • Support the kitchen team in preparing, cooking and plating high-quality meals
  • Clean kitchen areas and equipment according to work schedules
  • Assist with meal service in the dining areas
  • Tidy up and wash dishes, utensils, and surfaces after meals
  • Follow Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures at all times
  • Ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming kitchen and food service environment

Pay Scale: (Subject to qualification and experience)

We are able to offer contracts of up to 20 hours per week where this is in line with the conditions of your visa.
