About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Durham Careline in Hartlepool. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy and dynamic complex care environment, supporting adults with a wide range of needs including acquired brain injuries, neurological conditions, mental health needs, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. As a Night Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and clinical care of our service users during out-of-hours periods. You will be responsible for overseeing the unit, making autonomous clinical decisions, and maintaining high standards of care in a fast-paced and often unpredictable environment. This role is ideally suited to a Nurse who thrives in complex care settings, is confident working independently, and is passionate about delivering person-centred care that makes a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and holistic nursing care based on comprehensive assessments and individual needs
- Take clinical responsibility for the service during night shifts, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all residents
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate person-centred care plans and interventions
- Monitor and respond promptly to changes in residents’ physical and mental health, escalating concerns where appropriate
- Safely administer, review, and manage medications in line with best practice and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed clinical documentation and records
- Ensure clinical areas, treatment rooms, and equipment are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention
- Lead, support, and supervise the care team, providing guidance and direction throughout the shift
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to care reviews and handovers
- Promote safeguarding, dignity, respect, and independence for all service users
- Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
- Ensure compliance with NMC Code of Conduct, organisational policies, and all relevant legislation and standards
What You’ll Need
- Registered Nurse qualification (RGN, RMN, or RNLD)
- Current, valid NMC registration
- Minimum of 1 year’s post-registration experience (experience within complex care highly desirable)
- Demonstrable experience or confidence in managing complex clinical needs
- A strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, make sound clinical decisions, and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
- A proactive, resilient, and compassionate approach to care
- Leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate a team during night shifts
