Quantity Surveyor Roles and Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively with the Commercial Manager, and Operations team to develop business objectives whilst maintaining good working relationships with our clients and end users. You will be responsible for all financial and commercial aspects of projects assigned to you and assist with new project opportunities.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and assist the Commercial Manager (CM) with business commercial reporting.
- Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place in line with reporting timetable.
- Update the monthly CVR’s for the projects you are responsible for and have accountability on the performance of the project from the commercial performance.
- Recognising business opportunities and assist the CM/MQS with business strategy and growth opportunities.
- Support with strategically expanding, preserving or improving company procedures, standards or policies.
- Ensure that good client relationships are fostered and developed where possible.
- Attend the tender settle meetings (TSS)where applicable.
- Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business.
- Actively seek to improve processes and procedures.
- Have a good understanding of the company processes and procedures used we are working within, and assist in their development and improvement including the role out of any additional processes or support systems from Suir.
- Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions.
- Ensure any Sub-Contract packages are issued in line with company procedure and Project Management staff.
- Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams.
- Attend project review meetings (where applicable) with the PM and QS’s to challenge resources and costs and ensure effective contract management.
- Maintaining deadlines in line with the monthly commercial reporting timetable.
- Business unit review meeting support to the CM (CVR’s and Cashflows).
- Support the Project Manager with procurement and financial control.
- Monitor and price variations on Contracts you are commercially responsible for.
- Training and Development on communication and delivery skills to be agreed.
Future Development:
- Develop into a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Manage additional members of the QS team on any final account negotiations both with clients and sub-contracts
- External relationships - Ensure that any Contracts entered have terms and conditions agreed through the Suir legal department.
- Opportunity to go for RICS or Equivalent.
- Negotiating and agreeing contracts.
- Training and Development using our Cornerstone System.
