Role Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations across the business, covering offices, retail premises, commercial buildings, residential flats, and external areas. This is a primarily hands-on management role, requiring a strong technical background and the ability to remain practically involved in day-to-day maintenance work where needed, alongside supervising a small team of two. The role involves planning and prioritising maintenance activity, supporting the team with technical guidance, and actively assisting with on-site repairs and problem-solving when required. A strong presence across sites is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support a small maintenance team in delivering day-to-day repair and upkeep tasks
  • Remain actively involved in hands-on maintenance work when required, particularly for urgent or complex issues
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance requirements and ensure timely resolution
  • Carry out minor repairs and practical maintenance tasks across general building disciplines as needed
  • Coordinate external contractors for specialist works, ensuring quality of work and value for money
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and provide out-of-hours support when required
  • Organise and oversee routine maintenance tasks across sites, ensuring standards are consistently maintained
  • Support property projects such as store openings, refurbishments, and general site improvements
  • Maintain maintenance records, asset registers, and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers and tradespeople to ensure effective service delivery and issue resolution
  • Oversee maintenance vehicles and equipment to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and operational

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has solid hands-on maintenance experience, ideally within a multi-site or retail environment
  • Has previously worked in a maintenance supervisory or management role, while remaining technically involved
  • Is comfortable carrying out or supporting basic to intermediate repairs when required
  • Holds a relevant trade qualification (desirable but not essential if experience is strong)
  • Has good working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, fire safety, and general maintenance
  • Understands Health & Safety and compliance requirements in a practical environment
  • Is highly organised and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Communicates well with internal teams and external contractors
  • Is flexible and willing to support emergency or out-of-hours issues when needed

What we can offer
