JOB PURPOSE

To drive LGV/HGV vehicles and deliver goods and services as required. To drive company delivery vehicles and deliver its goods to customers efficiently and considerately whilst ensuring the health and safety of self, the public and other road users. To ensure the good maintenance and operation of the company’s assets and to provide excellent service to customers.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To check the safety and condition of the vehicle at the start of each day and record its condition using the system provided and promptly report any faults as they occur.
  • To care for the company’s assets whilst in his/her charge and ensure they are used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations ensuring effective long‑term performance.
  • To ensure the vehicle is securely loaded and restrained and that the vehicle weights are within the legally permitted limits.
  • To drive as efficiently and productively as possible but to do so within the prevailing road traffic law.
  • To give due consideration to the health and safety of self, the public and other road users always.
  • To always represent the company both on the road and at the customers’ premises in a professional and considerate manner and to report promptly any matters likely to affect the company’s business prospects.
  • Assist in the yard and other duties as may be required when not driving or taking legally required breaks.
  • To complete reports and documentation on time and as accurately as possible to assist in the management of the business.
  • To contribute to the well‑being and profitability of the business as far as it depends upon him/her.
  • Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ROLE

  • 6 months experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver.
  • Previous experience in operating tipper bodies is required.
  • MPQC/ MP Connect card required.
  • Drivers CPC Card.
  • Valid Tachograph Card.
