Due to our continued growth and expanding portfolio, we have an exciting opportunity for an Architect to join our creative and friendly team in Bristol or London.
The Role
We are looking for someone who is based in the UK and close enough to commute to our offices in either Bristol or London. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering school buildings with regard to functional and aesthetic requirements, budgets and timescales. It is important to maintain effective working relationships, understand where your skillset fits within the team and collaborate with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for the project.
Your Skills and Experience
- ARB registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years UK experience
- Proven commercial and contractual awareness
- Ideally large DfE or similar schools experience
- Experience of Building Bulletins and knowledge of latest standards
- A minimum of two years of using Autodesk Revit as software of choice
- Advanced knowledge of Indesign
- Ideally routine use of Newforma Project Center for managing emails, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
Key Responsibilities
- Take receipt of a brief from an AHR Manager and develop it into a design in line with the RIBA Plan of Work
- Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of AHR's Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and AHR's Deliverables and DRM
- Achieve efficient and effective designs using robust and sustainable design solutions
- Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards and relevant CoPs
- Choose or advise on material selection
- Author specifications using AHR's NBS Masters
- Participate in Project Reviews and coordination workshops
- Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways
- Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (Planning Applications / Gateway submissions / Building Regulations etc)
- Attend meetings and workshops with Clients, Designers, Contractors, and other Specialists
- Support the Project Lead with the maintenance of the Design Risk Registers
- Use Document Control on your project(s) in line with AHR Protocols
