We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to play a key role in growing our client base for high-impact research, data, and consulting solutions. If you thrive in a collaborative, agile environment, and want your work to directly support a more sustainable 2050, this is the role for you. This is a hybrid role which requires 3 days a week in the office during probationary period, and will decrease to 2 days upon successful completion.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Achieving quarterly and annual sales targets for market research subscriptions, consulting projects and event sponsorship.
  • Building rapport with target technology and software firms and relationships with senior managers in corporate positions.
  • Identifying custom research and consulting opportunities that address prospective clients challenges.
  • Managing the end-to-end sales process from name development, prospecting, in person meetings, proposal writing and contracting.
  • Forecasting bookings and undertaking detailed planning to achieve quarterly and annual bookings targets.
  • Employ a team selling, consultative approach to accelerate the sales process and, where necessary, drafting high‑quality proposals aligned with customer requirements.
  • When possible, attending industry events and trade shows to network with potential new clients.
  • Identifying market needs in new segments and presenting them to the Verdantix management team for investment in research products.

About You:

  • A proven new business sales professional with a track record of exceeding targets (~£500k+ annually).
  • Experience selling intangible solutions like research, consulting, or data services—ideally in a B2B or SaaS environment.
  • Experience working in a small firm environment where every individual’s contribution has a tangible impact on overall company performance.
  • Commercially and financially astute, comfortable managing pipeline activities and forecasting to sales management.
  • Fit into the results focused, collaborative Verdantix culture and will be comfortable working in a small sales team which follows conceptual selling methodologies.
  • Independent and proactive approach to both sales activity targets and sales bookings targets.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM desirable.
