Are you seeking a rewarding role improving the lives of young people? We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team.

About us: Family Care is a small family‑owned organisation providing specialist SEN education, fostering and residential care across the North West and West Midlands. We are committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people through nurturing, therapeutic services that have a lasting impact on their lives.

At Rodenhurst School, relationships come first. We are a small, specialist school supporting children and young people whose needs mean that mainstream education has not always been the right fit. Our pupils present primarily with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside Autism, ADHD and demand‑avoidant (PDA) profiles. Many of our pupils require a calm, flexible and therapeutic approach in order to feel safe enough to learn. Rodenhurst provides a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to support pupils both academically and emotionally. We believe that progress looks different for every child and value growth in confidence, communication, regulation and independence as much as academic achievement. Small student numbers mean we can give our very best to the young people who come through our doors every day, whether that is a role model to look up to, or a safe person to trust.

The LSA role involves supporting these young people with their education and enabling them to be the best they can be and supporting them to discover and achieve towards their future aspirations. Situated in the Shropshire countryside, our setting enables outdoor learning to form a meaningful part of the school day. Pupils benefit from access to forest school, outdoor learning spaces and a calm environment that supports regulation and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and social development through therapeutic approaches
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving personalized targets
  • Build trusting relationships and provide consistent, empathetic responses to behaviour
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and engaging classroom environment

What we are looking for

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • A nurturing, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • A team player who values collaboration and reflection
  • Passionate about inclusive education and committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

What we Offer

  • Salary: Up to £13.53 per hour
  • Extensive training and career progression
  • Access to Paycare and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Contributory Pension
  • Long Service Rewards

Full time hours: 34 per week (Term Time + INSET days)

Family Care is committed to safeguarding and always promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects the post holder to share this commitment. To uphold this responsibility, we follow Safer Recruitment practices to ensure we select suitable candidates. All offers of employment are subject to safeguarding checks. An Enhanced DBS check, comprehensive references, and appropriate online and social media checks will be carried out in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
