Here at ABP Langport, located in Southwest Somerset (TA10 9HG), we are currently recruiting for the ideal candidate to join our Yard Team as a Shunter and Yard Operative. Transport required due to our rural location. Please check your travel options before applying.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate Shunter and Forklift as required according to SOP’s, ensuring that all trailers are moved to the correct area and working as per procedures
- Ensure factory perimeters and external areas are maintained in an orderly and tidy manner at all times
- Ensure all non-food deliveries correspond with appropriate paperwork
- Carry out all vehicular activities in a manner which complies with site Health and Safety requirements
- Ensure CAT 1 and CAT 3 materials are disposed of correctly and that appropriate paperwork is correctly completed and retained
- Prepare trailers for production use in compliance with organisational operating procedures
- Load and unload lorries, ensuring goods are checked in accordance with organisational operating procedures
- Monitor bone-exit conveyor and ensure trailer is moved as required to prevent disruption to production or spillage of waste material
- Responsible for ensuring all maturation trailers are cleaned and working correctly
Knowledge and Experience
- The individual must have the ability to multitask and to communicate with all levels of site staff
- Be able to use own initiative
- Ensure the support to the operational teams is efficient and meets the needs of the business at all times

- The ideal candidate will hold the appropriate vehicle licences and take responsibility for maintaining the licences.
