We have a vacancy at our Kingswinford site for a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operative. You will be working as part of the Environmental team to ensure the needs of the business are met in a timely and effective manner according to the specification. You will be part of a fast‑paced, proactive team responsible for looking after the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The role involves:
- Ensuring the site effluent treatment plant and associated equipment is operated to its maximum efficiency and within West Midlands water consent levels, including discharge monitoring.
- Carrying out regular cleaning of the effluent treatment plant, associated equipment and surrounding yard areas as detailed in site SOPs, including pre‑start checks.
- Testing effluent discharge water regularly to ensure discharge limits are within consent levels as per site SOPs and WWTP operating guide.
- Maintaining all external areas of responsibility to ABP standard, including cleaning of the bund and tanks, and all yard area adjacent to the WWTP.
- Checking surface water monitoring points (SWMP) daily.
- Keeping the drainage system operational and unblocking drains in the yard.
- Assisting the yard team with site waste collection and recycling activities, unloading of deliveries when required (forklift training/license can be given).
- Performing basic maintenance in the WWTP (training will be given) and assisting the Engineering team with maintenance and repairs when required.
- Supporting the Environmental Manager to ensure environmental site compliance and ensuring all environmental tasks for the plant are complied with.
- Actively participating in treatment plant improvements and sustainability projects.
- Escalating any issues to the site Environmental Manager and Engineering Manager.
- Completing required training, including 2 weeks at one of our other sites as part of onboarding and chemical training.
