Role Definition
The Intake Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining full accuracy and control of all stock within the intake, chill and freezer areas. This role ensures that all stock is correctly located, scanned and recorded within the system, providing real‑time visibility and supporting production, planning and dispatch operations. The role requires a high level of accountability, attention to detail and ownership, as stock inaccuracies directly impact production flow, traceability and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of stock accuracy within intake, chill and freezer locations.
- Ensure all stock is correctly scanned into the system and allocated to the correct location.
- Identify and investigate stock discrepancies and take corrective action.
- Maintain accurate stock records at all times.
- Ensure all pallets are stored in the correct racking locations.
- Carry out regular location checks to confirm system vs physical stock alignment.
- Maintain clear and organised storage areas to prevent stock loss or misplacement.
- Perform daily and weekly stock counts across all intake areas.
- Carry out full freezer and chill audits using scanning equipment.
- Investigate and resolve variances between physical and system stock.
- Report stock discrepancies with root cause analysis where possible.
- Ensure 100% compliance with scanning procedures for all stock movements.
- Use handheld scanners (e.g., Zebra devices) to track all stock movements.
- Challenge and correct non‑compliance within the team.
- Operate scissor lift equipment to access high‑level racking locations safely.
- Ensure all stock in upper racking is accurately scanned and verified.
- Follow all safety procedures when working at height.
- Report any issues with racking, stock placement or access.
- Support intake and issuing teams to ensure stock is available when required.
- Assist in locating stock for production or dispatch requirements.
- Highlight any stock risks, shortages or location issues early.
- Follow all site health and safety procedures, especially when operating lifting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Adhere to GMP and food safety standards at all times.
- Communicate clearly with warehouse, planning and production teams.
- Escalate stock discrepancies, scanning issues or risks immediately.
- Provide updates to management on stock accuracy and control.
Personal Specification
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in warehouse stock control environments.
- Competent using scanning systems and warehouse software.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership.
