A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to provide support to the maintenance department at Daldowie fuel plant. Hargreaves Industrial Services have a contract with Drax power to carry out support services to the main operational and maintenance activities at Daldowie Fuel Plant. These activities include plant maintenance, tanker services, general cleaning, labouring and housekeeping duties.
The role briefly encompasses the following duties:
- Experience of heavy industrial machinery and material handling equipment, particularly large pumps.
- Experience in carrying out both reactive and planned mechanical repairs on various industrial machinery within the water sector such as valves, pump and pipe repairs.
- Experience of working within the wastewater industry is preferred.
- Able to work within a multi-skilled team and on their own initiative.
- Working within a clear set of safety rules.
- Competent to operate safely using permit to work system.
- General maintenance and cleaning routines.
The successful candidate will be required to have the following skills:
- Qualified mechanical fitter.
- Experienced and competent in carrying out mechanical repairs on pumps, pipes, valves and other mechanical apparatus.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- A reliable attitude and good punctuality.
- Good communication skills and the confidence and professionalism to liaise with the maintenance team.
- A safety conscious attitude and commitment to always abide by all safety rules and systems.
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines when required.
- Understanding of Risk Assessments and Method Statements required.
- Safety Passport desired but training can be given to the right candidate.
- Clear understanding of Health and Safety rules is a must.
- Ability to work overtime if required.
