Role Definition

Based in chilled factory environment, responsible for the ongoing training and development of skilled operatives in production

. Paying special regard to

Quality, cost control, yieldand utilisation health, safety& ethics product safety, authenticity and integrity, labelling and company, personal &food hygiene rulesand legislation

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out hands-on training with all operators through the site (from Goods in through to Despatch, including Yard staff), ensuring people are signed off to the company standard and customer specification; and ensure employees are legally, regulatory, audit and customer compliant.
  • Utilizing various training material including SOP, RA, Toolbox Talks, et.
  • Work in partnership with Health & Safety, Production and Technical management teams to ensure that training is delivered in accordance with company policies and plans.
  • To be involved in the onboarding of new starters to ensure that they receive the best possible start to our business.
  • To guide, and be a source of support for, new starters through their initial weeks with our business, ensuring that they never feel disoriented or uneasy.
  • To be an on-the-job mentor to new and existing employees, to ensure that production teams are continuously learning and developing into the best teams in the business
  • Work closely with the HSE & Training Manager and Operational Managers to identify and assess staff training needs
  • Maintain a skills matrix for staff identifying key skills and when refresher training is required.
  • Maintain individual staff training records for all operatives.
  • Carry out regular job observations and refresher training with operatives.
  • Support the production and adherence to job rotational plans.
  • Maintain and develop work instructions and training materials for operative training.
  • Assist with training requirements and procedures for new equipment and capital projects.
  • General administration duties as and when required.
  • Uphold and maintain the highest company standards both personally and whilst training operatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to align standards for process, content and delivery format.
  • Maintain regular communication with the HSE & Training Manager and Operational Managers to ensure training targets are met

Person Specification

  • Speaking, writing and understanding basic spoken and written English language. (This is an essential health & safety, traceability and quality control requirement)
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Attentive to detail with ability to plan and organise
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Presentation, facilitation and training skills
  • Knowledgeable in food processing and packaging operations
  • Working in a chilled environment
  • Flexible, adaptable and keen to learn

  • Accreditation Food Hygiene equivalent at level 3 if possible
