We’re looking for an experienced Responsible Investment Analyst to help strengthen how ESG factors are embedded across our investment approach and partner fund services. This role is a brilliant opportunity to support LGPS Central’s responsible investment ambitions, helping deliver meaningful analysis, reporting and insight on sustainability, climate and stewardship across public and private markets. What you’ll do:
- Work closely with investment teams to support ESG integration and responsible investment activity across portfolios
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to produce ESG, climate and sustainability reports that support investment decision making and risk management
- Support the delivery of sustainability, climate change and TCFD reports to Partner Funds and present findings where required
- Conduct due diligence on new external manager appointments across equities, fixed income and private markets
- Monitor external managers’ responsible investment integration and stewardship performance across asset classes
- Support internal investment teams with analysis of ESG risks and related investment considerations
- Support the Head of Stewardship with voting and engagement activity
- Respond to ad‑hoc requests from Partner Funds on responsible investment and reporting matters
- Support the RI&E Manager (Net Zero) with the implementation of LGPS Central’s Net Zero strategy
- Contribute to LGPS Central’s own TCFD reporting, Stewardship Code submissions and UNPRI reporting
- Support Partner Funds with their evolving responsible investment and sustainability reporting requirements
- Contribute to investment team meetings and build strong working relationships across the business
- Develop a broad understanding of how an asset manager operates through exposure to portfolio management, compliance, legal, operations, finance and client relations
- Promote LGPS Central positively within the industry and contribute to the continued development of our responsible investment capability

LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal‑shares basis by those Partner Funds, and it is responsible for managing £45bn+ of their assets. Requirements:
- Demonstrable interest in ESG and responsible investment through academic study, work experience or both
- Awareness of the interaction between ESG factors, including climate change, and investment outcomes
- Understanding of climate‑related risks, including carbon risk metrics
- Strong analytical capability and confidence working with both quantitative and qualitative information
- Strong report‑writing and presentation skills
- Motivation to support long‑term investors in managing ESG and climate‑related risks
- Ability to use initiative and take ownership of workflow when required
- A proactive and self‑starting approach to work
- Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Power BI and Bloomberg knowledge would be advantageous, although training will be provided
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in a related subject would be an advantage
- A Level Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Business Studies would be an advantage
- Investment Management Certificate preferred
- Willingness to study for the CFA ESG Certificate
