Responsible for supporting and maintaining site-wide compliance and ensuring that all factory operations consistently meet food safety, quality, legal, customer, and audit standards. The role acts as a key link between production, technical, hygiene, engineering, and management teams to ensure compliance systems are effectively implemented and continuously improved across the factory.
Hours: 8am to 4:30pm (Must be flexible)
Role Involvement
- Food Safety & Quality Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all company food safety, quality, and legal standards.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP systems.
- Monitor factory adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
- Conduct routine factory inspections and compliance audits across production areas.
- Ensure all non-conformances are investigated, documented, and closed out effectively.
- Verify that corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) are implemented within agreed timelines.
- Audit Management
- Support preparation for customer, retailer, BRCGS, and regulatory audits.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist in coordinating audit schedules.
- Maintain audit readiness across all production and technical areas.
- Collate and manage compliance documentation and evidence for audit purposes.
- Documentation & Record Control
- Maintain accurate technical records and compliance documentation.
- Review factory paperwork to ensure completion and compliance with company procedures.
- Ensure traceability and due diligence records are completed accurately and retained appropriately.
- Factory Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Drive a strong food safety and compliance culture throughout the factory.
- Work closely with production teams to identify compliance risks and implement improvements.
- Monitor trends relating to non-conformances and audit findings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical and operational performance.
- Promote best practice and ensure high standards are maintained across all departments.
- Provide guidance to production teams regarding technical standards and customer requirements.
- Customer & Legal Compliance
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, retailer standards, industry requirements and ensure that these are effectively rolled out on the factory floor.

Essential Requirements
- Educated to degree level in Food Technology/Food Nutrition or related discipline.
- At least 2 years experience within the Food Industry.
- Previous experience of working with customers and particular UK retailers.
- Strong IT skills and working experience of all the Microsoft applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead with authority, whilst maintaining good relations with colleagues across business functions.
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Self-driven and an ability to work on own initiative.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Drive to learn new things and enthusiasm to progress.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous knowledge of Regulations and Customer Codes of Practice.
- Red Meat knowledge would be advantageous.
- Experience in management would be advantageous.
