About the role

During the 24 months, you will learn all of the responsibilities and accountabilities of a Field Technician, which is a key role within the Field Engineering Team. The role of Field Technician - Engineer is to carry out all Field‑based activities associated with building and testing new solutions and the de‑commissioning and de‑installation for our customers both at customer premises as well as on Vodafone’s core network sites. The role will also get involved in repair activity, which involves troubleshooting and replacing equipment at customer premises or within the core network. Representing our brand and delivering an excellent level of service for our business customers is also a key component of this role. The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments. Internal and external rooftop based working including the use of ladders up to 3 metres is essential and the role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all physical aspects of the role may be carried out safely. Once graduated, an amount of the role may consist of lone working and so the ability to work efficiently, safely and independently is a must.

We are looking for individuals who are self‑motivated with a keen sense of intrigue, a desire to fix anything and everything, great communication and team‑working skills and a passion for making the experience of our customers the best in the industry. The role holder must be willing to travel afield, working away from home on occasion and be comfortable working at heights. Upon graduation, the Field Technician role comes with a branded commercial vehicle so you will need to have the ability to park this at or near your home. We need individuals with the ability to work in a focused and flexible manner, putting the needs of the customer first. Having a passion for technology is also important, as is the ability to learn new skills quickly in this constantly changing and evolving environment. This role also requires someone who has a flexible attitude to working hours, as the Field Delivery team may need to provide Field resources to facilitate customer demands. As such there may be a requirement to work on shift or standby rotas. Depending on the specific needs of the team in question, our working patterns may include weekday, weekend and night working.
