Role Definition:
Supportive role within the South Wales Collection Centre – Providing collection centre assistance 1 day a week for the existing calf supplier base and supporting dairy farmers of the UKs leading fully integrated supply chain. The role involves assisting the collection centre manager when accepting calves in the centre, checking for calf suitability for the programme and health. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in the dairy and beef sector.
Key responsibilities:
The role:
Working onsite in the collection centre on a weekly basis, assisting with the throughput of calves from dairy farmers and hauliers. Providing feedback to calf suppliers and ensuring high welfare standards are met. On farm software is used through this process, so ability to learn this is key.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assisting suppliers with their calf supply in the collection centre
Checking bookings of calves against supply
Support the loading of calves on and off transport safety
Maintain calf specification to meet company standards
Align to farm assurance standards to continue compliance
This role requires a full UK driving licence.
Personal Specification:
Good knowledge of animal welfare standards
Experience of working livestock
Team player
Knowledge of the UK dairy, genetics and beef industry
Good understanding of livestock movements
