We’re looking for a dynamic and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our established Intermediary Team. This is a key role as you will be responsible for managing and growing relationships with intermediary partners, networks, and clubs, ensuring we meet the Society’s financial targets while delivering excellent service, expertise and support to our intermediary partners.

This role requires a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, able to adapt their approach and delivery to different audiences whilst acting as an ambassador of the Society and mutuality. You’ll combine in-depth mortgage market knowledge with strong problem-solving ability, working both independently and collaboratively within the wider lending team.

Purpose

Developing meaningful relationships with our Intermediaries to secure mortgage business on behalf of the Society.

  • Build market position by locating, developing, defining and managing Intermediary Relationships
  • Planning & delivery of powerful presentations both internal and external to individuals and groups
  • Spotting and presenting mortgage related opportunities to the Society
  • Team player with one focus on delivery of exceptional service
  • Ability to interpret accounts and support self-employed borrowers
  • Ability to support the wider team and impart mortgage knowledge when required
  • Ability to interpret data and identify opportunities

Main Duties Within Role

  • To grow, manage and maintain relationships with our Intermediary Partners, Networks and Clubs to meet the Society’s financial targets, product mix and margin.
  • To educate our Intermediaries about the Society’s Mortgage Proposition in support of their customers.
  • To design and present powerful presentations to highlight our mortgage proposition.
  • Attend intermediary team meetings, network or club roadshows or conferences to talk about our proposition.
  • To listen to our Intermediaries and share their views to improve our mortgage offering.
  • To adapt communication styles to suit the personality of the Intermediary.
  • Speak to frustrated intermediaries where needed, understand their position and resolve where appropriate.
  • To spot opportunities for the Society, creating proposals to present to appropriate committees for approval.
  • To liaise with Marketing to ensure relevant correct content of all external marketing literature.
  • To act as part of one Intermediary Team, supporting others within the team or different departments with your mortgage knowledge, coaching or training.
  • Pick up stuck / declined cases, review, liaise with the Intermediary and present a credible solution where appropriate.
  • Maintain external mortgage knowledge and become the Society’s Intermediary expert.

Qualifications & Accreditations

  • CeMap qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 GCSE passes Grade C / level 5 or above including Maths and English
  • Full Driving Licence
