We are now looking for a Development Engineer to join our team!
Role Purpose
To test, analyse and report on components and systems for relevant projects across racing and non-racing projects.
General Responsibilities & Tasks
- Devise a test methodology to assess the effects of prototype hardware.
- Liaise with Design and Simulation teams to understand the hardware being evaluated, its likely effects and how best to structure the testing to validate the component.
- Schedule the component testing.
- Liaise with Manufacturing, Build and Test departments to ensure that test hardware, facilities and appropriate instrumentation is available.
- Work with the Test department to collect the experimental data and ensure that the power unit is operated in a safe manner.
- Post-process the collected test data using appropriate tools and analysis techniques.
- Draw conclusions and make recommendations for future testing.
- Report and present findings to peer group review and support with Customer / Supplier liaison.
- Modelling and drawing of components using CAD systems (CATIA V5).
- Apply an understanding of Manufacturing processes and set-up costs to the design process whilst meeting customer specifications.
- Apply project management techniques to each allocated development project, taking project ownership from concept to production.
- Look for, suggest and contribute to making cost reductions, efficiencies and continuous improvement activities.
- Work closely and communicate effectively with different departments and roles to achieve the best outcome of project and make improvements where identified.

Qualifications & Experience
- At least three years post graduate experience in the field of powertrain development.
- A good degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and engine systems.
- In depth knowledge of full engine dynamometer and sub-system rig testing.
- A high level of competence in planning and executing testing activities, analysing data and reporting findings in a clear and succinct manner.
- Knowledge of combustion pressure measurements and data analysis.
- An ability to design development components.
