Company description: Our Media is a leading special-interest content business, based in Bristol. We publish market-leading brands in craft, cycling, science and nature, homes and music, with print, video and online content. Brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, YourHome, Gathered.how, BikeRadar and Cycling Plus. We also have an award-winning content agency providing services to charities, brands and membership organisations.
Position: We are seeking an experienced Operations Editor to join the Homes & Antiques team and oversee the smooth delivery of print and digital content. Homes & Antiques is a long-established magazine celebrating design, antiques and interiors, producing 13 print issues per year plus special editions, with a growing digital presence.
The Operations Editor will maintain high editorial standards, manage production workflows, and oversee collaboration between teams. Reporting to the Editor, you will manage editorial production of the magazine and digital mini magazines, and wider content across platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency and efficiency in print and digital formats.
You will organise and manage the copy flow with the Editor and Deputy Editor, ensuring deadlines are met and a consistent editorial tone across outputs. The role requires exceptional editorial and production experience, top-level subbing and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a busy production schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee page production, monitor flow, and troubleshoot to avoid bottlenecks.
- Organise weekly production meetings and keep the flatplan up to date.
- Maintain schedules and ensure teams are aware of and adhere to them.
- Manage digital content production, including Apple News, digital editions, newsletters and CMS uploads.
- Meticulous subbing of copy to maintain accuracy and brand editorial tone.
- Ensure all picture and feature credits are correct.
- Liaise with contributors.
- Final proofing of print and digital issues.
- Write headlines, decks and captions for print and digital.
- Maintain awareness of key developments within the interiors world.
- Assist in general office administration when required.
Qualifications / About you:
- Exceptional writing, sub-editing and proofreading skills with ability to create engaging copy.
- Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational abilities with experience managing editorial processes and workloads.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Word, Excel, and general Mac skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across teams and external partners.
- Ability to work in a busy, dynamic team environment with flexibility and professionalism.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Proven experience running a complex magazine production process.
- Knowledge of interiors and antiques market or a keen personal interest in home décor.
- Familiarity with creating content for digital platforms, including websites, Apple News, newsletters and social media.
