Overview

Senior Building Surveyor – Location: Birmingham. Permanent, full-time role. Salary £50,000-£65,000 depending on experience + car allowance.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead simple and complex projects across a range of sectors (Residential, Education, Leisure, Health, and Blue Light).
  • Support the Senior Leadership team, foster new opportunities and innovative ways of working, and help develop a growing, ambitious team in Birmingham.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and manage programmes of work.
  • Provide line management and mentoring to team members.
  • Fee management and effective project delivery.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • RICS Accredited Building Surveying degree (BSc or MSc)
  • MRICS or MCIOB (Chartered status or sitting Autumn 2026)
  • Minimum 5 years' consultancy experience
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Mentoring team members

Leadership: Proven experience in managing interdisciplinary projects and project teams; leadership, delegation, workload management, problem solving, and strategic thinking.

  • Experience: Demonstrated expertise in core building surveying, design, tendering, and project management services.
  • Track Record: History of managing programmes of work with strong organisational capability and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • People Skills: Personable with excellent client care and rapport-building abilities.
  • Knowledge: Willingness to contribute to research, thought leadership, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Leading by Example: Mentoring less experienced team members.
