An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production and Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our growing friendly team at Niftylift! Niftylift Limited is one of the world’s leading privately owned designers and manufacturers of mobile elevated work platforms. Our customer base is global, with products sold and locally supported in over 40 different countries. This success is comprehensively supported by a team of over 400 full-time members of staff across our three UK centres of excellence / manufacturing sites in the UK.
The Role in Detail
As the Production and Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will work within the Production Engineering Team to provide support for a welding value stream, including both manual and automated processes, and systems to assess, analyse and develop Continuous Improvement opportunities and the most cost-effective method of value-added production output.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate Value Stream Mapping alongside time studies to support accurate labour and capacity planning, with true process costings to ensure accurate product costing.
- Administer and maintain the accuracy of bills of materials and part locations.
- Maintain and develop the production process documentation/instructions used across the value stream.
- Develop and document all parts of the production process, through Standard Operating Procedures, Works Instructions and How to Guides.
- Support the continuous improvement of Health & Safety and Environmental targets, liaising with the Environmental Health & Safety Officer to test and project manage the implementation of improvements.
- Conduct audits on production process operators to assess adherence to company standards and opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for hands-on analysis, problem solving and development of all production processes, methods and engineering specifications.
- Logistics development through defining/implementing refined parts flow, location organisation and material control processes/Kanban systems.
- Develop and maintain the practices necessary to achieve excellent housekeeping standards through 5S and Visual Factory.
- Project management of small to medium projects, driven to deliver projects from initiation to implementation and handover.
- Targeted to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of all operations and engineering specifications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 5 years’ experience.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean in the manufacturing field.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Experience with Manual and Automated welding.
- Experience with Introducing and Sustaining Logistics based processes.
- Experience with CAD packages, preferably AutoCAD and Creo.

Salary & Working Hours
Working hours for the role are 40 per week (07:30 - 16:30, Monday - Thursday, and 07:30 - 13:30 on Friday). Annual bonus (for indication only) based on recent average £500 per annum. 25 days holiday (increases with service, up to 30 days), plus bank holidays. Discounted gym memberships.
