Role Accountabilities:
- Undertaking the necessary training programme to ensure competency.
- Demonstrating satisfactory skills development throughout the training programme.
- Undertaking HGV driver training at the required stage within the training programme.
- Operating waste management equipment in a professional and legal manner.
- Achieving required standards of performance in regard to jobs per day, cleanliness of operations.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in a safe and legal manner.
- Being aware of, understanding and achieving required standards of performance.
- Dealing with customers in a manner that retains their loyalty to the Company and delivers an outstanding service.
- Aiding the relevant Driver Operative to ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner that does not negatively impact human health, the environment or public amenity.
- Raising any issues, problems or concerns with your Line Manager at the earliest opportunity.
- Being courteous and respectful to customers at all times.
- Abiding by all customer on-site rules and regulations.
- Following instructions on each work ticket.
- Helping the driver operator to feed back to the office any additional customer requirements.
The Candidate:
- Driving Licence.
- Experience of providing a service to customers.
- A desire to work as part of a team and to work hard towards building a career.
- Exposure to manual work and lifting.
- Learn and demonstrate ability to follow operating procedures intelligently.
- Learn to drive and operate equipment as per road and company regulations.
- Learn to assist the driver operator to carry and use the correct equipment to achieve the work required.
- Learn to assist the driver operator to use all testing equipment in a proper and prescribed manner.
- Learn to submit logbooks as per legal requirements.
- Learn to complete daily work sheets, consignment notes and all other paperwork accurately and as directed by the Company.
Performance standards and targets:
- Learn to assist the driver operator to carry out each job to the standards required.
- Learn to assist the driver operator to carry out a minimum number of jobs per day in line with depot expectations.
- Raise any questions regarding standards with Line Manager.
- Be willing to stay away at night and cover emergency, out of hours and any additional work required to meet customer needs.
- Learn to assist with carrying out daily vehicle checks as required.
- Learn to use generic risk assessments.
- Learn to assist with carrying out specific risk assessments for each job.
- Learn to use the defect reporting system as laid down in driver training.
- Report every Near Miss.
- Carry and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- Participate in the Depot Communications meetings.
- Discuss with the Manager any issues that could affect your learning of the job required.
