Longwood Lodge Care Home is a friendly 40-bed residential care home in Oldham, providing person-centred care in a safe, comfortable and homely environment. We are proud of the warm atmosphere we create for our residents and believe that maintaining our building to a high standard plays an important part in that.
We are looking for a dependable and practical Maintenance Officer who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of creating a safe and pleasant space for older people to live.
The Role
This is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the home. You will help ensure the building remains safe, well maintained and welcoming for residents, visitors and staff. You will work independently and report directly to the Home Manager, playing an important role in the smooth running of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance throughout the home
- Complete routine safety checks (fire alarm call point tests, water temperature checks, emergency lighting checks)
- Basic plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating
- Respond promptly and positively to maintenance requests
- Ensure the home and grounds are safe, secure and well presented
- Liaise with external contractors when required
- Maintain clear and accurate maintenance records
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in general building maintenance or a similar role
- Practical skills across plumbing, electrical and general repairs
- A good understanding of health and safety
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- A reliable, trustworthy and proactive approach
- Experience in a care home setting (desirable but not essential)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.80 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
