Holly & Co is fast becoming one of the UK's most exciting retailers, and we're on the cusp of launching something set to change business for the better: better for creators, better for society and better for the planet. If you're curious, talented and have something less ordinary to bring to the table, we'd love to meet you.
We also work on an island, and that's just the start of what makes Holly & Co refreshingly unique. Our founder has built something that genuinely challenges what business can look like — championing artists and makers, staying fiercely true to what we believe in and approaching everything we do in an innovative way.
We have a strong organic search foundation that has never had dedicated senior leadership. We're looking for a senior, hands-on SEO/GEO freelancer to take it on and drive our growth through Christmas peak and beyond — across both traditional search and the new world of AI-generated answers. This is a senior doing-and-leading role, not a strategist who needs a team beneath them. You'll own the priorities, the measurement, and the work itself.
What you'll do:
- Own our organic and AI-search strategy end to end — set the priorities, build the measurement that tracks both search and AI visibility, and decide where effort goes against a hard Christmas-peak deadline.
- Lead conversion improvement on our highest-traffic pages — diagnosing why pages that rank well underperform, and working across content, structure and merchandising to fix it.
- Drive our biggest growth opportunity — moving high-potential pages that sit just off page one into positions that actually earn traffic, through on-page, internal linking and content depth.
- Shape how Holly & Co shows up in AI answers — defining the answer-first content approach on our key category and gift pages so we're cited, not just crawled.
- Set the competitive strategy for winning the specific, gift-led searches where a curated brand can beat the large marketplaces — and brief the writer, developers and PR support to deliver against it.
- Translate performance data into clear priorities and plain-English recommendations for a non-specialist leadership team.
What we're looking for:
- Senior, hands-on SEO — equally happy recovering a slipping ranking and getting a brand cited in AI answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity).
- Genuine GEO experience — you're getting clients cited in AI answers now, and can show how you measure it (we don't expect a ten-year track record — nobody has one in GEO).
- E-commerce / retail experience, ideally consumer or lifestyle, and comfortable with seasonal peak trading.
- Comfortable with a custom-built (headless) site and writing clear dev tickets.
- Fluent in Google Search Console and GA4, and able to turn data into priorities and plain English.
We believe this work is won by quality, craft and judgement — not by tooling. If that's how you work, we'd love to hear from you.
