Our mission statement is to provide education, residential care, plus a range of therapies and enrichment activities for children, young people and adults with profound and multiple disabilities. We focus on ability not disability and celebrate our differences.
Being a Support Worker at Hollybank is a varied, exciting, and rewarding role. All of our services are unique, being tailored to suit the needs of adults and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and physical disabilities, and our teams work hard to ensure that the standards of care and support are consistent and of high quality.

- Eating and drinking

Our new digital systems provide staff with more time to engage with the adults and young people, ensuring we capture all the great work we do. Oak House and Acorns, part of Hollybank Trust, is a small community home for 6 Adults with a range of complex physical and learning disabilities, in Worsborough just outside the centre of Barnsley. Our team supports the Adults with all aspects of their lives, including their physical, social and emotional needs, following their individualised care plans and delivering person-centred care.
We support the Adults to live enriched lives through a range of in-house and external activities, including structured activities at Hollybank’s main site in Mirfield. The team also works alongside Hollybank’s in-house therapies team, who assess the various aspects of the Adults’ needs in order to write their individual care plans and develop bespoke training to meet these needs. Our staff receive in-depth induction training to safely and effectively support the Adults, as well as regular refreshers to maintain the high standards the Adults have a right to expect.
What we look for from our staff:
- Confidence: being self-assured, asking for help when you need it and challenging behaviour or practices that you feel are inappropriate or unsafe.
- Curiosity: being inquisitive and welcoming change, asking questions about the way that we do things and why, and putting yourself forward to try new things.
- Happiness: being cheerful and positive, bringing your best self to work and sharing your enthusiasm for life with the people we are here to support.
