We're looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to play a leading role in growing and developing our dilapidations and technical due diligence offering across the South West. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Associate or Senior Associate who enjoys combining technical excellence with client development and business growth. You'll take ownership of a high-profile service line within an established and respected consultancy, helping to strengthen our market presence whilst delivering expert advice to a diverse client base.

Working closely with colleagues across the wider Building Surveying team, you'll lead on complex dilapidations and technical due diligence instructions, build long-term client relationships, and help shape the future direction of the service in the region. You'll also have the opportunity to influence strategy, mentor junior surveyors and contribute to the continued growth of our South West business.

Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in developing and growing the South West dilapidations and technical due diligence service, helping to strengthen Hollis' market presence and reputation across the region.
  • Lead the delivery of complex dilapidations instructions on behalf of landlords and tenants, providing commercially focused advice and robust negotiation strategies.
  • Manage and undertake technical due diligence commissions across a range of commercial property sectors, producing high-quality reports and providing clear risk-based recommendations to clients.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to key clients, building long-term relationships and identifying opportunities to support wider surveying and consultancy services.
  • Drive business development activities within the South West market, developing existing client relationships and creating new opportunities through networking, referrals and market engagement.
  • Take responsibility for project financial performance, including fee proposals, resource planning, budget management and profitability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior surveyors, supporting their professional development and contributing to team growth.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Management, Building Safety & Fire and other service lines to deliver multidisciplinary solutions for clients.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, legislation and industry best practice, ensuring the team continues to provide informed and commercially relevant advice.
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and team development initiatives as the South West service offering continues to expand.
  • Contribute to regional and national business planning, helping to shape the future direction of the dilapidations and technical due diligence offering.

Your Profile Experience

  • MRICS
  • Specialism for professional building surveying work and extensive experience (and interest) in dilapidations and TDD instructions
  • Experienced with successfully managing complex dilapidation claims and negotiations
  • Strong commercial real estate sector knowledge, including offices, retail, industrial, leisure and more
  • Experienced with managing and mentoring a team, supporting professional growth and development including the APC pathway
  • Approachable and people-focussed, you’ll be comfortable engaging with clients and building relationships with new and existing clients
  • Confident with business development and excited by opportunities to win work and bring in new business
