The Trustees are recruiting for a Level 1 Teaching Assistant at Hollinwood Academy, Oldham. This fixed-term role lasts 12 months.
Contract & Salary
- Salary: NJC scale point 3 – £24,796 per annum (full-time equivalent).
- Actual salary pro rata – £20,663 per annum.
- S.E.N. allowance – £1,539 per annum.
- Contracted hours: 36 hours 40 minutes per week / term time only (190 days per year).
- Start date: Commencing as soon as possible.
- Closing date: Friday 19th June 2026.
Responsibilities & Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with primary/secondary school aged students who may present with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, taking a non‑judgemental approach.
- Ability to support teaching and learning within a special needs setting to a dedicated group of students.
- Ability to support the class teacher to monitor student progress, ensuring improved engagement with the school and learning.
- Ability to record student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
- Ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school and to cater for the general welfare of students.
- Ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for students in relation to the curriculum.
- Ability to work as part of a team, using own initiative when needed.
- Willingness to participate in own professional development.
