We are looking to recruit a part-time receptionist to join our busy practice. The post holder will be the first point of contact for patients, contractors, and visitors as well as be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder should be able to work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high-quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.
- They will have excellent communication skills, a compassionate and friendly nature who can operate in a busy environment with a range of people and clinical staff.
- This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, an effective communicator and flexible - who can provide a professional and courteous service to our patients and who maintains professionalism and confidentiality.
- IT skills are also essential, as you will be regularly using software and booking systems.
- You will also process prescription requests and provide a full administrative and secretarial service.
- Previous experience in general practice is advantageous although there will be training if necessary.

Hollinswood and Priorslee Medical Practice is a busy practice within the Telford Area. We have three sites located across Hollinswood and Priorslee. We are a supportive and friendly team.
Job responsibilities
- To deal with Patients in person or on the telephone in a polite and courteous manner to ensure effective delivery of GP services.
- Deal with general queries, make appointments and provide information on processes.
- Using your own judgement and communication skills to ensure patients are booked in with the clinical team and that book on the day or urgent appointments are dealt with appropriately.
- Register patients and explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
- Deal with Record Keeping and other administrative duties.
- Refer requests for home visit to appropriate doctor as required.
- Action repeat prescription requests.
- Maintain a safe and clean and tidy working environment including infection control procedures.
- Be responsible for opening and closing of premises.
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
- Work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
- Have a flexible approach to meet service needs and ensure a stakeholder focused response.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with other managers, clinical staff, patients and other stakeholders.
- Computer literate with an ability to use the required GP clinical systems.
- Attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily.
- Has a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise their own workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Undertake any mandatory or required training.
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.
- Apply Practice policies, standards and guidance.
- The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health and Safety Policy.
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines.
Person Specification
- Qualifications: GCSE Grade A - C in English and Maths.
- Previous higher admin experience.
- Computer skills preferable with EMIS and Docman.
- Flexibility with working schedule.
