We operate a Hybrid working model enabling you to divide your time between home (minimum 2 days a week) and our Studio in Thame, Oxfordshire.

HollandGreen is recruiting an Assistant Landscape Designer to join our friendly, design-led team based from our Studio in Thame, Oxfordshire. We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Landscape Designer to support our Senior Designers across all stages of design and project delivery, working alongside clients, contractors, suppliers, and the wider team of designers and consultants. This role involves contributing to every part of the design process, from concept development and construction detailing and visualisation, while working both independently and collaboratively to achieve high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting senior team members on all aspects of the design process, from the initial client meeting through all design stages to the build and final handover.
  • Understanding the client’s objectives, requirements, and budget for the project.
  • Assisting with day-to-day operational aspects of projects, including procurement, finances, and invoicing.
  • Managing your own workload and resourcing on projects.
  • Ensuring project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.
  • Producing visualisations that clearly portray the design intent.
  • Assisting in the production of tender and construction packages, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  • Striving to progress to Project Lead level by developing your skillset and knowledge.
  • Taking on any other ad hoc responsibilities that may arise as part of a project.
  • Engaging in internal projects that support the development and improvement of the team.

Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Landscape Architecture / Garden Design or similar.
  • Proficient in Vectorworks; experience of Twinmotion is beneficial, and training will be provided.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Adobe programmes such as Photoshop, Excel etc.
  • Good horticultural and plant knowledge.
  • A high level of design ability, from sketching through to construction detailing.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Responsible, and reliable, able to take direction on designs and processes from senior team members.
  • Receptive and able to give and receive feedback constructively, open to new ideas and training.
  • Driven, with a positive, can-do attitude; willing to go the extra mile; with a rigorous attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Industry knowledge, with an interest in keeping up to date with the latest trends, products etc.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
  • All candidates should be eligible to work in the UK.

Experience

  • Beneficial: two years’ UK experience in the delivery of high-end landscape projects for high-net-worth (HNW) clients.
  • Experience in developing both masterplans, visualisations, technical/construction drawings and specifications.
  • Beneficial: experience in the planning process and in submitting relevant drawings and information for planning applications.
  • Knowledge of sourcing garden furnishings and features, planting, and specimen trees.
