Purpose of the role

To deliver high-quality Science teaching that secures excellent outcomes for all students, fosters curiosity and deep scientific understanding, and contributes to the continued success of a high-performing Science Department.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5 where appropriate, in line with departmental needs and subject specialism
  • Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Set high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement, establishing a calm and purposeful classroom environment
  • Use assessment effectively to inform planning, provide timely feedback, and support students to make strong progress
  • Secure strong outcomes in external examinations through excellent subject knowledge and clear explanations
