The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Location & Working Arrangement: Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. Permanent, 40 hours per week, Wednesday – Saturday rotating AM and afternoon shifts (06:00‑16:00 & 12:00‑22:00). This role is based at our Burton manufacturing site and requires on‑site presence four days per week (4 on / 3 off).

Introduction: As a Shift Engineer, you will play a vital role in keeping our manufacturing operation running safely, efficiently and reliably. Working across a range of packaging, filling, labelling and sealing equipment, you will help ensure our products reach customers to the highest standards while supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Put health and safety first in everything you do.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
  • Provide both electrical and mechanical maintenance support across production machinery.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve issues to minimise downtime.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Work closely with production and warehouse teams to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance productivity and performance.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to GMP, regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an engineering maintenance role within a manufacturing, production or packaging environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and automated machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance schedules and engineering best practice.
  • Awareness of relevant engineering legislation, safety requirements and compliance standards.
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
