The Role: If you’ve ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes of a Finance leadership team, this role will give you the closest view without actually becoming the CFO. You’ll be the organising force that keeps the CFO and Finance Leadership Team pointing in the same direction, doing the right things, in the right order, at the right time. It’s part strategy, part orchestration, part 'can we please get this back on track'. You’ll translate priorities into plans, make sure people stick to them, and introduce the kind of clarity and rhythm that keeps a fast-moving leadership team aligned. This isn’t about managing a team. It’s about making a leadership team work better - effectively a Chief of Staff style role, even if we don’t call it that officially.

What you’ll actually be doing:

  • You’ll be the person ensuring Finance leadership works in a structured, planned, and aligned way.
  • Translating the CFO’s objectives into a small, sharp set of priorities - then making sure they’re understood, owned, tracked, and delivered.
  • Managing the development of the Finance budget and tracking performance against it, giving the CFO and FLT a clear line of sight on spend, variances, risks, and decisions they need to make.
  • Designing and running the Finance leadership operating rhythm: weekly FLT meetings, monthly deep dives, quarterly reviews.
  • Building and maintaining KPIs and delivery dashboards that show what’s moving, what’s stuck, and where decisions are needed.
  • Coordinating process-improvement initiatives that drive efficiency, reduce friction, and help Finance operate more effectively.
  • Supporting (and sometimes leading) strategic initiatives on behalf of the CFO - from shaping plans and milestones to producing decision-ready materials.
  • Playing a big role in communication and engagement: Finance town halls, offsites, away days, and the messaging that connects leadership priorities to the wider Finance community.

How we’ll know you’re making an impact:

  • Things feel more joined-up.
  • Finance priorities are clear, tracked, and delivered.
  • Leadership meetings are sharper and more effective.
  • KPI's are visible and effectively used.
  • Risks don’t surprise people.
  • The CFO and FLT feel supported, focused, and confident in what’s moving and why.
  • Finance colleagues understand the direction, see progress, and feel engaged.

The Person: What you’ll need:

  • Strong knowledge of how Finance functions fit together - FP&A, Commercial Finance, Treasury, Financial Control - and how strategy turns into delivery.
  • Ability to think in structure, cut through ambiguity, and work autonomously with senior leaders.
  • Organised, analytical, and calm when things move fast.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, whether in a room with the CFO or in a deck that needs to land first time.
  • Highly capable with PowerPoint/Slides and Excel/Sheets, and comfortable working with KPIs and data.
  • Experience from a Finance, Strategy, Commercial, PMO, or internal consulting background, with exposure to senior leadership.
  • Judgement, influence, and delivery are key attributes.
  • Tech-focused and naturally curious about how things work.

This could be ideal if you are:

  • Someone who either did 3 years as a consultant and wants to come and be a smart generalist.
  • Someone who wants to do an MBA but actually would rather do this for 1-1.5 years.
  • Someone who has finance experience but wants to pivot into business.
  • Someone who knows it’ll be hard 1-1.5 years but it’ll push their career forward.

Here’s a taste of what’s in it for you:

  • The salary’s competitive and reflects your impact.
  • 25 days of holiday + 8 Bank holidays.
  • 25% staff discount across our range - plus free online delivery.
  • Pension contributions.
  • Free wellness diagnostic tests.
  • Exclusive discounts on wellness services, gym memberships, and more.
  • Perks from other retailers.
  • A culture of wellbeing - from mental health support to menopause coaching.
