Holkham is looking for engaging and outgoing Guides to join our experienced team from March 2026. As a Hall Guide, you will bring the amazing stories of Holkham to life, sharing your passion for the Estate and ensuring historical accuracy and relevance of the stories. You will support the visitor experience in an entertaining, dynamic and engaging style. The role is also key in maintaining the security of Holkham Hall and its collection.
Responsibilities
- Support the visitor experience in an entertaining, dynamic and engaging style while ensuring historical accuracy and relevance of the stories.
- Share the stories of Holkham and deliver information to diverse groups, including individuals and large parties.
- Maintain security of Holkham Hall and its collection.
- Be a team player, welcoming visitors to Holkham Hall and supporting the wider visitor facing team (e.g. Visitor Reception and Retail).
- Communicate effectively with all kinds of people, including in emergency situations such as fire evacuation or when a visitor needs additional assistance.
- Explore new and creative ways of working that add real value to customers' experiences.
Qualifications & attributes
- Flair for storytelling with confidence to deliver to diverse groups.
- Experience of delivering information in an engaging way to individuals and large parties is desirable.
- Interest and knowledge of history is advantageous.
- Friendly, professional demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with all kinds of people.
- Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays; evening work in December for Candlelight Tours (11am to 7pm).
- Seasonal role on a rota; shifts provided in advance.
