Location: Southport.

Job title: Deputy Manager – children’s home.

Service: Ofsted Regulated Residential Children’s Home, Regulated for the care of EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties).

Hourly Rate

  • £15.50 – Level 4 Diploma in Children’s Residential Services.
  • £16.50 – Level 5 Diploma in Children’s Residential Services.

Sleep In Rate: £60.

Rota patterns are: 2 days on, three days off

  • 08:00 – 23:00, sleep in – although this is subject to change, dependent upon the needs of the service.
  • The Deputy Manager may also be expected to undertake ‘office hours’ as part of their rota, i.e., 09:00 – 17:00 to assist with the organisation, planning and operations of the home.

Bonus Scheme

  • One time bonus based on inspection outcomes:
    • Outstanding – £250.
    • Good – £150.
    • Requires Improvement or Inadequate – £0.

Retention Bonus

  • 1 year – £150.
  • 2 year – £300.
  • 3 year – £500.
  • 4 years – £750.
  • 5 years – £1000.

Annual Leave: Full time employees are entitled to 35 days paid annual leave each year, plus sleep ins, inclusive of bank holidays. Annual leave for part-time employees is calculated on pro-rata basis.

Time and half on bank Holidays.

Essential Criteria

  • You must have previously worked in an Ofsted regulated residential children’s home, in a Team Leader / Senior capacity as a minimum.
  • The ability to work on a shift rota.
  • The ability to work as part of a cohesive team.
  • A friendly and nurturing attitude and outlook.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • A desire to work with vulnerable children, and to constantly have high aspirations for their achievements.
  • A driving license.
  • QCF Level 4 Residential Childcare / Level 4 Diploma Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent).

As a Deputy Manager you will

  • In the absence of the Registered Manager and his / her Deputy; to be responsible for all admin / childcare functions at the Home.
  • To assist the Registered Manager and his / her Deputy to promote good childcare practice within the home.
  • Play a role in the establishment, maintenance, and development of the environment and climate of the home, thus providing children with a calm and relaxed group living experience conducive to emotional security and personal happiness and growth.
  • Ensure the safety of our children, working with your colleagues and wider professionals to implement effective risk assessments are care plans.
  • On a day-to-day basis you will make our house / houses a home, supporting meal times, activities, education and the routines and boundaries in place.
