Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport NEC is creating a new Meeting & Events Operations Supervisor role to support the launch and day‑to‑day operation of our newly refurbished meeting and conference spaces.
With 14 meeting rooms and a wide range of events taking place across the hotel, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys being hands‑on, leading from the front and making sure every detail is right.
Our largest event space can accommodate up to 600 delegates in theatre style or 450 guests for a dinner, giving you the opportunity to be involved in events of real scale and variety.
From welcoming corporate delegates and ensuring meeting rooms are perfectly prepared, to coordinating weddings, charity events, boxing events and Christmas parties, you’ll be at the heart of the action.

About the Role;
As our Meeting & Events Operations Supervisor, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our meetings and events, working closely with the Operations Manager and wider hotel team to ensure every event runs seamlessly.
You’ll be the go‑to person for our guests & delegates throughout the day, making sure every request is taken care of.
One moment you could be welcoming a conference organiser and checking AV requirements; the next, refreshing a meeting room, setting up a coffee break, coordinating a working lunch or preparing a room for an evening event.
This is a genuinely hands‑on role where you’ll lead by example, be visible across the operation and take pride in delivering an exceptional experience from the moment a guest arrives until the final event finishes.
- Your Impact;
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our meeting and event floor, ensuring everything is ready, presented and operating to a high standard.
- Complete daily checks of conference and meeting spaces, ensuring rooms are clean, fully prepared and set up correctly.
- Welcome and meet event organisers & delegates, becoming their key point of contact throughout their event.
- Ensure all AV and technical requirements are in place, working with the relevant teams or suppliers to resolve any issues quickly.
- Set up and refresh meeting rooms throughout the day, including water, stationery, refreshments and equipment.
- Coordinate and deliver conference breaks, working lunches and other food and beverage requirements.
- Turn rooms around efficiently between meetings and events, ensuring they are ready for the next day
- Lead and supervise the team, allocating tasks and ensuring everyone understands what is required.
- Brief the team before events and communicate any specific client requirements, timings or changes.
- Coordinate the set‑up and delivery of a wide variety of events
- Manage the delivery of evening events, including room set‑up, food and beverage service and coordination of dinners and functions.
- Work closely with Kitchen, Food & Beverage, Reception, Housekeeping and other hotel departments to ensure a seamless operation.
- Be proactive in identifying issues before they affect the client or guest experience.
- Handle guest and client queries confidently, resolving problems quickly and professionally.
- Ensure all meeting rooms and event areas remain clean, safe and presentation‑ready throughout the day.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure meeting and event areas have everything required.
- Complete relevant checklists, handovers, event paperwork and incident reports.
- Manage the planning and delivery of upcoming events and conferences throughout each week.
- Ensure all events are delivered in line with company procedures and Health & Safety, food safety, fire safety and licensing requirements.
- What We’re Looking For;
We’re looking for someone who is energetic, organised, confident and passionate about hospitality.
You’ll ideally have
- Previous supervisory or senior experience within Meetings & Events, Food & Beverage, Hospitality or a similar fast‑paced environment.
- Experience working with conferences, functions or events.
- Strong leadership skills and the confidence to lead a team in a busy operation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and delegates.
- A hands‑on approach and willingness to get stuck in wherever needed.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple events, priorities and requests at the same time.
- Confidence dealing with AV requirements and resolving issues quickly.
- A calm and professional approach when working under pressure.
- The ability to think on your feet and find solutions.
- A flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Most importantly, a genuine passion for creating great events and memorable guest experiences.
