A newly created role for a Company Accountant has been created for an SME business where the person will be sole charge in preparing all aspects of bookkeeping through to financial statements in addition to some purchasing duties, reporting into the Managing Director, alongside a Group Financial Controller.
In more detail the role will include:
- Production of accurate and timely quarterly accounts for management
- Undertaking all bookkeeping tasks to ensure the integrity of the recording of financial information into Sage
- Processing all supplier invoices - coding, gaining appropriate authorisation
- Completing payment runs for suppliers and Sub-Contractors
- Reconciling suppliers’ statements and dealing with supplier enquiries and disputes
- Producing retrospective sales invoices after Application payments and chasing payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Month end journal preparation
- Accruals/Prepayments
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of VAT and CIS returns
- Intercompany recharging and reconciliations
- Source and purchase materials and supplies
You should be an experienced QBE Accountant / Bookkeeper who is hands-on but also possesses strong debits/credits technical bookkeeping skills to produce. Experience of the construction sector with knowledge of CIS returns is highly desirable. You will have confident IT skills including strong MS Excel, experience of Sage and be a self-motivated individual able to work on your own initiative with an analytical approach to problem solving.
