This role involves supporting teaching staff to help pupils access learning and achieve their full potential. Working under the guidance of the teacher, the postholder provides targeted support to individuals and groups, including those with additional or special educational needs, both in and outside the classroom.

Key duties include:

  • Assisting with learning activities
  • Promoting pupil engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of individual learning and care plans
  • Preparing resources
  • Monitoring pupil progress
  • Providing regular feedback to teachers
  • Supporting classroom organisation and administrative tasks
  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive setting

The postholder is expected to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and other professionals, uphold school policies (including safeguarding), and contribute to the overall ethos and development of the school.
