  • The Opportunity
    Holcim UK is launching its brand-new Tilbury Cement Grinding Station, and we\'re looking for Control Room Operators to be part of this exciting journey. This is a rare chance to work at one of our new sites, where you\'ll play a vital role in overseeing cement grinding operations and ensuring the plant runs smoothly. You\'ll be part of a 24/7 operation working on a 12 hour rotating shift between days and nights.

    As a Control Room Operator, you\'ll be at the heart of production, monitoring processes, making real-time adjustments, and ensuring product quality while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. This is an opportunity to build your expertise in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment where you\'ll have the opportunity to train on state of the art equipment globally with Holcim, so make sure your passport is at the ready

    What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Monitoring and operating plant systems from the Central Control Room (CCR), including mills, storage, raw materials, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Responding to process alarms and equipment malfunctions, making timely adjustments to keep operations efficient and reliable.

  • Optimising production rates while ensuring energy efficiency and consistent product quality.

  • Carrying out hourly process readings, logging operational data, and performing physical plant inspections.

  • Supporting maintenance shutdowns, ensuring isolations and safety procedures are followed.

  • Collecting and analysing raw material and cement samples to guarantee output meets specifications.

  • Collaborating with maintenance, production, and quality teams to identify improvements and resolve issues.

  • Documenting shift performance, ensuring smooth handovers, and contributing to daily coordination meetings.

  • Participating in the CRO Certification Programme, including training on DCS, PID control, and advanced plant monitoring.

  • Who You Are
    You\'re a skilled operator with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for running safe, efficient, and high-performing processes. You thrive in technical environments and enjoy being part of a team that delivers results at scale.

  • Experience: Background in a control room or process operator role within cement, aggregates, power generation, or heavy industry.

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with plant automation systems, milling, grinding, and process control.

  • Safety Focus: Trained in LOTOTO, COSHH, Working at Height, and other essential HSE practices.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret process data, spot trends, and take decisive action.

  • Collaboration: Strong communicator, confident working across production, maintenance, and quality teams.

  • Desirable: NVQ Level 2+ in Process Operations, Engineering, or related field, plus exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or advanced process optimisation.
