The Opportunity

Are you ready to lead from the front at one of the most strategically important aggregate sites in the South West? We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Quarry Manager to take the reins at our Lee Moor site in Devon - a unique operation producing high-quality secondary aggregates from China Clay by-products. This is a rare opportunity to run a site that is helping redefine sustainable material production in the UK, all without the need for drilling and blasting.

As the Quarry Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the day-to-day success and long-term future of this high-profile, environmentally driven site, leading operations, teams, compliance, and performance in line with Holcim's global commitment to sustainability and progress. This would be a great opportunity for a hungry assistant quarry manager to take that next step in leading their own site!

What Makes This Role Stand Out?

  • Lead a specialist operation - Lee Moor is a non-blasting site producing c.300ktpa of secondary aggregate, supporting our net-zero ambitions.
  • Sustainability in action - You will be at the forefront of sustainable materials recovery in line with Holcim's 1.5°C-aligned strategy.
  • Stunning location - Based in beautiful Devon, this is a hands-on leadership role with both professional impact and quality of life.
  • End-to-end ownership - From health and safety to budgets and people management, you will have full responsibility for running and developing the site.
  • Be part of something global - Work with a local team backed by the power of Holcim, one of the world's leading building materials companies.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Act as the site's Statutory 8.1(c) appointee, ensuring full legal compliance and safe operation.
  • Lead and manage all quarry activities - from extraction and restoration to production, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Own site performance across HSE, quality, output, and cost, maintaining strong financial reporting and planning.
  • Ensure compliance with quarry regulations, environmental permits, and quarry design plans.
  • Inspire, manage, and develop a multi-skilled team - including training, performance, and recruitment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams (distribution, commercial, technical) and external stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations, audits, and improvement initiatives to embed a proactive safety culture.
  • Drive efficient use of plant and equipment, and maintain robust records, inspections, and maintenance plans.
  • Act as an ambassador for Holcim's values, ensuring respectful communication, fairness, and inclusion across the site.

Who You Are:

  • An experienced leader from a quarrying, mining, or heavy industrial background.
  • Familiar with Quarries Regulations, geotechnical safety, environmental legislation, and statutory inspections.
  • SHE NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualified (or working towards).
  • Strong communicator and team leader with a passion for people and safety.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organised, and financially literate.
  • Comfortable using digital tools for reporting, planning, and site management.
  • Able to plan and prioritise in a fast-moving, safety-critical environment.

We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
