The Opportunity
Join Holcim UK, part of the global Holcim Group, a world leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions. We're looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Callow Rock site, ensuring our operations run efficiently and safely across this busy 24/5 manufacturing environment. You'll be working on a 3 shift rotation (0600 – 1400, 0800 – 1600 and 1400 – 2200) in our automated block plant.
What you'll be doing:
As a key member of the maintenance team, you'll be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to keep our plant and equipment operating at peak performance. You'll:
- Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections across all site equipment.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring quick recovery and implementing permanent solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of safe working methods for all maintenance activities.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work and equipment inspections.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and promote a safe working environment at all times.
- Collaborate closely with the site management and operations teams to minimise downtime.
- Support and train operatives in basic maintenance activities.
What we're looking for:
You'll be an experienced mechanical maintenance engineer, ideally qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), with proven experience in welding, cutting, and fabrication. You'll also bring:
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A proactive approach with good planning and time management skills.
- A strong understanding of health and safety standards in an industrial environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to operational needs and respond to breakdowns quickly.
