This is a superb opportunity within the world's leading sustainable building materials company, located at Ipswich with some flexibility to be based at Rockhampton or Townsville QLD.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of our Health and Safety Improvement Plan as part of the safety team reporting to the National Safety Manager.
- Role model visible felt leadership and ensure safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business.
- Monitor, measure, track and report on corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits.
- Provide advice, coaching and development to managers and supervisors to enhance their safety and health knowledge and capability.
- Participate in detailed internal audits of sites throughout Australia.
- Assist and support line management with safety incident investigations, including determining and tracking correct and preventative measures.
- Assist and support line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards.
Qualifications
- A Diploma of WHS and/or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
- Previous experience in a safety or related leadership role within a high-risk environment, such as quarrying, mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred but not essential.
- Relevant experience in behavioural safety and/or Critical Risk Management programmes.
- Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and promote Holcim's We Keep Each Other Safe culture.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with all functions.
- Willingness to regularly travel to Rockhampton and Townsville to coach and mentor site leaders to effectively manage risk.
