The Opportunity:
We are recruiting for a Surfacing Supervisor capable of supervising multiple surfacing contracting gangs and liaising with customers. The Surfacing Site Supervisor, reporting into the Surfacing Contracts Manager will deliver a wide range of surfacing schemes including new build roads, car parks and local authority carriageways across multiple locations in the north east. We're looking for an experienced, proactive Supervisor to join our team, someone who's ready to lead from the front and take ownership of delivering high-quality work across a wide range of projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on everything from local schemes to large-scale, high-profile projects, giving you real variety, responsibility, and room to grow.
In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while leading foremen and teams to meet contract targets. What You'll Be Doing:
- Leading site operations, ensuring all works are delivered safely and in line with company IMS standards.
- Understanding and working to the contract, ensuring quality compliance across all specifications.
- Planning workload, directing foremen, and monitoring production to achieve contract targets.
- Ordering materials and plant on time, balancing cost efficiency and client value.
- Maintaining accurate site records, liaising with surveyors and customer representatives.
- Managing plant and equipment needs, ensuring correct use, inspections, maintenance and timely off-hire.
- Building strong relationships with clients, always looking for improvements and innovation.
- Supporting team development through job reviews, mentoring, and recruitment where needed.
- Ensuring full compliance with company rules, processes, and safety policies.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail.
- Have either a SSSTS or SMSTS and CSCS card.
- Qualifications in health and safety would be desirable but not essential i.e IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Confidence, self-motivation, and the ability to take initiative.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
- The ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks in a live site environment.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards.
- Understanding of product knowledge, company processes, and public relations.
