The Opportunity

Join Holcim UK, part of the global Holcim Group, a world leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions. We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Callow Rock site, ensuring our operations run efficiently and safely across this busy 24/5 manufacturing environment. You'll be working on a 3 shift rotation (05:45 - 14:00, 13:45 - 22:00 and 21:45 - 06:00) in our automated block plant.

What you'll be doing:

  • As a key member of the maintenance team, you'll be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to keep our plant and equipment operating at peak performance.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections across all site equipment.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring quick recovery and implementing permanent solutions.
  • Support the development and implementation of safe working methods for all maintenance activities.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work and equipment inspections.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and promote a safe working environment at all times.
  • Collaborate closely with the site management and operations teams to minimise downtime.
  • Support and train operatives in basic maintenance activities.

What we're looking for:

  • You’ll be an experienced mechanical maintenance engineer, ideally qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), with proven experience in welding, cutting, and fabrication.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A proactive approach with good planning and time management skills.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety standards in an industrial environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to operational needs and respond to breakdowns quickly.
