The Opportunity
At Holcim UK, we are looking for a Surfacing Operative to join our team. This is a hands-on role working across a variety of sites, supporting the delivery of high-quality surfacing works safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors as part of a close-knit team and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.
You will be supporting experienced operatives and supervisors on a range of surfacing activities, contributing to the successful delivery of projects. Please note: this role is open to candidates based in the Portsmouth area, as you will also be responsible for driving a welfare van, supporting the transport of team members to and from site. A company van, fuel card and additional compensation for driving will be provided.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out surfacing and general site duties in line with instructions from the Foreman or Supervisor.
- Working safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and the Integrated Management System.
- Supporting the safe use and basic maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Assisting with daily site operations to ensure productivity and quality targets are achieved.
- Reporting any safety, health or operational issues to site supervision.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Supporting less experienced team members and contributing to a positive team culture.
- Completing relevant paperwork and site records in line with company processes.
- Assisting with transport of team members to and from site using the welfare van (where required).
- Taking part in safety initiatives such as reporting near misses and supporting incident investigations.
